Port St. Joe, FL — The Florida Department of Health in Gulf County extends condolences to the family of Dr. Kevin Murphy, Physician and Medical Director for the department since 2004.

Dr. Murphy was well known throughout the community as a passionate health provider and advocate for equal access to quality patient care for everyone in Gulf County.

In 2002, Dr. Murphy retired from private practice as a cardio thoracic surgeon and moved to his vacation home on Cape San Blas with his family.

“In the fall of 2004, Dr. Murphy walked into the health department and offered his services as a physician,” said Marsha Lindeman, Administrator for the Florida Department of Health in Gulf and Franklin Counties. “And for the past 11 years, he worked tirelessly to provide the highest quality of care to everyone who came to see him.”

“He truly had a heart for his patients. Dr. Murphy loved what he did and knew the value of what he did. We were blessed to have him here,” said Helen Cook, ARNP for the Florida Department of Health in Gulf and Franklin Counties.

Throughout his career, Dr. Murphy was also involved in mission work. We will be forever grateful for his service and love for humanity.

Our hearts and prayers go out to his family.
