Have you just found out you are HIV positive?
You may feel scared or upset first, but now that you know you are HIV positive, you have the ability to control what happens next.
Living with HIV isn’t like it used to be. It is no longer a death sentence. Being treated for HIV leads to feeling well and living a full, productive and healthy life. Some things may have to change, however you may find that embracing the changes can improve your life.
STEP ONE: Visit www.noflacweb.org. Click on the heading, “New HIV+?”. You will find a link there called “Day One”. This one-page document was written by people living with HIV who know what you’re going through and who care about your health and well-being. Let it guide you as you cope with learning the news of your positive HIV status.
STEP TWO: Connect to services. Visit “Local HIV Services” at www.noflacweb.org. You will find the a list of the many HIV and AIDS service programs available in Northwest Florida. These programs provide a wide variety of services to assist you in living with HIV.
STEP THREE: After reading “Day One” and finding out about services, return to the home page and visit all of the pages under the home page buttons. There you will find a world of information that can give you strength and resolve in your fight against HIV.
